Thank you for your interest in applying for the Elderly Property Tax Credit. The portal is closed at this time due to the following:

The Elderly Property Tax Credit, enacted under Council Bill CB-29-2022 and modified by Council Bill CB-07-2024 (Draft 2), will be suspended effective June 30, 2025, per Council Resolution CR-08-2025. Council Resolution CR-008-2025 was adopted on February 11, 2025 to enable the Acting County Executive and County Council to work collaboratively to address challenges identified in the implementation of Council Bill CB-07-2024 (DR2).

Maintenance Windows

If you have a Maryland Driver’s License or Maryland State ID you will need to enter this for validation. Please note, the State system may not be available during the following maintenance periods:

Nightly: 12:00 AM - 12:30 AM EST
Sunday: 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM EST

The second Saturday of every month from 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM EST
Tuesday and Thursday 5:00 PM EST

Elderly Property Tax Credit

As outlined in County Bill CB-029-2022, Prince George’s County will provide up to a 20% credit of the County portion of the property tax bill, including any Homeowners and Homestead Credit (total max of 20%), for up to 5 years to qualified homeowners.

To be eligible for this credit the applicant must meet all the following criteria as of June 30, 2025, to receive the credit for Fiscal Year 2026, which is tax billing period July 01, 2025 - June 30, 2026:

At least one homeowner is age 65 and over; AND
The same homeowner has resided at the property for which the credit is sought for at least the previous 10 fiscal years; AND
The assessed value of the property does not exceed $515,000.00; AND
The application is received by October 01, 2025.
